It is one of the more common logos for the book(/movie) – that and the green thing, but this was easier to look at in terms of shapes and lines instead of objects, so it was good practice…if not terribly difficult.
To be fair, the hand/thumb section is a bit tricky but I had to trust that once the fingers were added it would turn out OK. I had to look at the model with a different perspective, but when isolated, even on the original it looks…weird.
If I were to redo it, though, as careful as I was I would aim for more evenness and better erasure of initial pencil sketch marks. I would also put the fingers just a bit closer to the hand, but overall I am pleased with how accurate this is.
It did not come easy, though. On top of skill issues, I was also dealing with this: . He (Opus) usually lays horizontally (rather than perpendicular as shown here), and I can push him towards the “top” of my work area and set my ipad on my laptop to the left.
Then, when I finish and start to type, he gets up and starts playing with pens and clips on my desk. Yes, these are put away in containers, but he pulls them out.
He really is something else.
