This is as a basic as it gets. And I promise that things will increase in difficulty/complexity as I progress through the week. (But not by much.)
I’ve wanted to do some Doctor Who doodles for a while, and did sketch a Dalek during my birthday week in the “Favorite Things” theme. (https://dawby8791.wordpress.com/2016/10/22/sci-fi-saturday-favorite-things-7/)
After spending two weeks wtih colored pencils and more detailed images, I needed a big change. This simple pen doodle format will also give me something more portable to work with. (Not that I’m doing much drawing on the go, but I do always have that intention.)
Plus, I am at the end of the trimester, with major papers in three writing classes to grade plus a new term to prepare (including two classes I haven’t taught yet this year), so I need something I can do quickly (well, relatively, anyway; these always take me a while) as time will be short.
You would think that today would be one of the more detailed pieces, but we had some people over to catch UFC 205 last night, then my dad and brother stayed overnight after the Iowa vs Michigan game, then my sister-in-law dropped in this morning with their five kids because two are going with them to the Iowa/Iowa State basketball game this afternoon, and the rest were just visiting. And Sunday is my No Man’s Sky/video game day, and I really want to get to that. (After finishing all the chores left undone from people being over.)
It’s been pleasantly busy, but I’m choosing for video game downtime as a priority today instead of sketching. I’ll still sketch every day – I can’t play PS4 every day. And I’m pretty critical of my art skills, and gaming gives me an escape from that and something less brain- and emotion- intensive before I tackle a week with students.
